Our History

The Loudoun Career and Technical Education Foundation (LCTEF) was organized in partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools in 1989 pursuant to enabling state legislation which permitted school boards to establish educational technology foundations to expand access to and improve the quality of educational technology in the school system. During the past 32 years, the foundation has primarily focused its supporting efforts on the construction-related programs, including Building Construction, Masonry, and HVAC. LCTEF provides real-world learning opportunities to students in these programs by purchasing land and materials for students to use in actual residential construction projects. Upon completion of each project, the house is sold and proceeds from the sale of the project are used for the follow-on projects. Through the generous support of material providers, developers, and trade contractors, LCTEF has been able to provide students with the safe and relevant learning opportunities on real-life projects, while meeting the unique needs of a public school system. LCTEF is an 501(c)(3) public charity.
